Stem Cell Research

I have chosen a really emotionally charged subject for my first posting. I must admit that I really need to do more research on stem cell studies before I form an intelligent opinion but my instincts and what I have read about embryonic stem cell research lead me to favor federal funding for further studies. I understand the argument that human embryo’s are being destroyed during this research and many equate that to killing unborn babies. That is the part that I really need to do more research on. Proponents of federal funding for stem cell research counter that only embryo’s that would be discarded anyway from fertility clinics are being used. I do not know if this is actually the case or not. What I do know is that embryonic stem cell research promises to ultimately save the lives of untold humans by finding cures and treatments for many diseases and afflictions. I guess the bottom line is the balance of good vs. harm and if it is worth the sacrifice of human embryo’s to ultimately save many human lives. I will post a follow-up after I have done some more research.
