Muscle Cars , why don’t they build them anymore?

I am reading a Dirk Pitt book , Black Wind, which is one in a series of Dirk Pitt books written by Clive Cussler. Dirk Pitt, an adventurer along the lines of a modern day Indiana Jones, collects vintage cars whenever he is not saving the world. In the book I am reading Dirk’s son, Dirk Jr., also collects vintage automobiles. While in Oregon he stops at a car auction and bids on and wins a 1958 Chrysler 300 D convertible. The 300 D was one of Chrysler’s muscle cars. I looked the 300 D up online and found a page that has some beautiful pictures of this gorgeous car. My question is, why don’t they make cars like this anymore? Most of the cars I see on the road today are boring with uninspired looks and design. The SUV’s and trucks are not much better. It is only rarely that I see a car that appeals to me. Cars like the Chrysler 300 D quicken my pulse when I see them and make me want to own them and drive them from coast to coast. A car like the 300 D could make driving fun again. Let me know what car inspires you and quickens your pulse when you see it. I really want to know. I am going to have to replace my venerable 1996 Ford Ranger someday and I want a car that is fun to drive again.
