OJ Simpson – Will justice finally be served?
I have always thought that the acquittal of OJ Simpson for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman was one of the biggest travesties of the justice system ever passed down by a jury. The evidence of OJ’s guilt was overwhelming and even his behavior right after the crime was an unmistakable signal of his guilt to all but the blind. The fact that there were never any suspects besides OJ only strengthens my belief in his absolute guilt. What saved OJ from the death penalty or life imprisonment was a jury who would not have convicted OJ even if there had been a video tape of him committing the crime. The jury was so determined to make sure that the “man” would not take down a famous black man just because he was black that they ignored all evidence both material and circumstantial. It didn’t hurt that he had a famous lawyer who was an expert at playing the race card and turning the trial away from OJ and instead trying to convict detective Furhman of being a racist instead. The fact that there are still people who believe in OJ’s innocence and still support him is hard for me to fathom. The jurors who acquitted OJ are people who put their distorted beliefs and prejudices before justice. They allowed the vicious murderer of two innocent people to just walk away from it all and spend the rest of his life up to now playing golf, when he wasn’t looking for the real killers.
So now we have OJ involved in a strong arm robbery of people who had stolen some of his sports memorabilia. I don’t think OJ has the right to any sports memorabilia. It should all have been auctioned off a long time ago to pay some of the money he owes for the civil suit over the murders that OJ lost. So here we have OJ and two or more of his thug friends going to a meeting and intimidating and threatening at gun point the people who had some of OJ’s sports memorabilia. If you have heard the audio tape of the encounter as it took place, it will give you some idea of the real OJ Simpson. The arrogant, short tempered, violent person who was perfectly capable of murdering two people, one of them the mother of his own children. OJ has a sense of entitlement and the belief that he is above the law and can get away with anything. And why not, society let him get away with a double homicide. But I don’t think that OJ will walk away from this one. I hope and pray that he is locked up for a long time for this crimes this time. It will be little comfort to the families of Nicole and Ronald who have had to deal with this excuse for a human being all these years. I just pray that we don’t have the same jurors that acquitted OJ for those murders all those years ago. Some people will never change. And OJ is one of those people. I hope that after this trial is over the next time we hear about OJ is when he is finally released from prison 20 years from now.
