Blogging Using Microsoft Word 2007
I was watching a video on CNET today where Molly Wood was explaining how you can create a blog entry using Word 2007 and have it posted to your Wordpress blog automatically. I am not sure why anyone would want to do this unless it was to use all the powerful editing features of Word. I usually do not do a lot of fancy typesetting or formatting in my blog entries but I thought I would give it a try. Who knows, if this works maybe I will start punching up my blog entries with flashing text and multi-color text. Just kidding, but I am going to try some basic formatting just to see if it will really work. If it does I might write another post detailing my observations. [ Update ] It looks like it worked as advertised. My blog entry was posted with all the formatting intact. Interesting. I may play around with it some more and see what I can really do.

I think that the only benefit, besides the formatting options you mentioned, is the ability to save posts in progress since Word does an Auto Save every few minutes or so. Molly recently said on Buzz Out Loud that she lost a post she was making on her blog about her trip to Mexico. I normally do a manual Auto Save myself in Wordpress by regularly saving the post and then continuing to edit. I think that Wordpress should incorporate an Auto Save feature similar to Word or to how GMail does an Auto Save of your email drafts.

The only other drawback I can think of is that you have to have Office 2007 installed on your PC. With Wordpress you can post from any computer. I too regularly save and continue editing my posts in Wordpress but I can see where the Auto Save feature of Word would be useful.
