If you thought gasoline was expensive, what about doughnuts?

By • on March 29, 2008

I went to the local grocery store this morning to get some coffee and something to eat for breakfast. Along with the coffee I bought some eggs, bacon, banana’s, and doughnuts. I occasionally stop at 7-11 or Wawa in the morning on the way to work and buy coffee and a doughnut, so I know that a single doughnut costs about 89 cents. But I never really considered how expensive that doughnut really is until I bought a half dozen this morning. Those half dozen doughnuts cost me $5.34. That means that a dozen doughnuts cost $10.68. I thought that everything was cheaper by the dozen but apparently that is not the case at my grocery store. All I can say is that I am glad cars don’t run on doughnuts instead of gasoline because if they did we would really be in trouble. So the next time you fill-up at the pump and are feeling the pain in your wallet just remember how expensive doughnuts are and be thankful.
