Open season for terrorists and pirates on Spanish citizens.
Remember the 2004 Madrid bombings in which more than 200 people were killed and 1,500 others injured? Remember what Spain’s response was to those bombings? Three days after the bombings the Socialist Party swept into power and soon after that Spain withdrew all it’s troop from Iraq. Giving in to terrorists? You bet. Remember what the reaction was from the US after 9-11? Certainly not giving in to the terrorists. And now Spain is doing the same thing in the waters off Somalia. It has been revealed that Spanish authorities paid a $1.2 million ransom to the pirates who captured a Spanish fishing boat and its 26 member crew to have those crew members released. When will Spain ever learn that you cannot give in to terrorist’s? Apparently never. Spain has just sent a message to all pirates operating off the coast of Somalia that all you have to do to pick up a quick million or two is hijack a Spanish ship. It also sends a message to all terrorists around the world that the Spanish government is spineless and will give in to terrorists every time. I feel sorry for the citizens of Spain as the Spanish government has effectively painted a big bullseye of the back of every one of them.
