Do yourself and an animal a favor, adopt your next pet from a shelter.

MaxwellA Twitter acquaintance of mine, Johnny Goldstein, is promoting the adoption of pets from local shelters by having a Mimbot Giveaway. Details can be found at Johnny’s Partay. Our current dog Max is a purebred golden retriever that we adopted from our local animal shelter. He was in an outdoor cage which we almost didn’t see. Luckily I saw a door that said ‘more animals outside’ and we went out to have a look. We fell in love with Max instantly. We have had Max for two years now and he is a great pet and loving companion. Your local shelter is full on dogs like Max as well as cats and other pets. There are many reasons for adopting a pet from a shelter vs buying one from a pet store or a breeder. A great article about the benefits of adopting locally can be found here. But the best reason for adopting a pet is that you are giving an animal a second chance at life. So do yourself as well as the animals at the local shelter a favor the next time you are looking for a pet and give the local shelter a try first. I guarantee that you will not want or need to go to a pet store or a breeder after you see all the beautiful animals that await your love and companionship. And they are eager to return your love and companionship. And chances are that you will be saving their lives as well.
