Wrap yourself in green. it’s better than patriotism
I came across an advertisement for a company called Greenloop while surfing the information superhighway. Greenloop is a self-proclaimed environmentally friendly company that sells women and men’s clothing, shoes, accessories and gifts. According to the Greenloop ‘About Us’ page:
All brands carried by Greenloop employ a variety of responsible practices, including: using eco-friendly, sustainable materials; employing energy efficient and low-impact production; investing in renewable energy and carbon offsets; and maximizing recycling and waste reduction.
Greenloop goes on to say that the companies whose brands it carries engage in fair trade, support organic agriculture, are sweat-shop free and contribute to various environmental non-profit groups through in-kind and financial donations.
Seems like Greenloop used every environmental buzz word available to describe its products and its manufacturers. They seem to have overlooked using Al Gore’s name and did not actually use the term global warming, but I am sure those were just oversights. I don’t know how anyone could actually verify any of the claims of Greenloop but I will take them at their word. Seems like everyone is jumping on the environmental bandwagon, and that is a good thing. I applaud companies like Greenloop and their attempt to become a better steward of our world. I can only hope that it is not just a lot of hype and of very little substance. I would be willing to pay a little more for a product if I thought it was ‘environmentally friendly.’ So who knows, maybe the next time I need some new clothes I might just give Greenloop a try. I wonder if Al Gore shops there?
