Double standard is alive and well on CNN, MSM.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck, co-host of the ABC gossip show The View, has come under attack by liberals for some comments she made about Michelle Obama. Hasselbeck recently said that unlike when Cindy McCain appeared on the show, Michelle Obama had a long list of topics that were not to be asked or discussed during her appearance on The View. For this probably true comment Hasselbeck was viciously attacked and mocked by talking heads on CNN and in other MSM venues.

Hasselbeck knew she was going to be attacked for her comments because she was afraid to even mention Michelle Obama’s name directly. What is particularly disturbing about this is that The View is notorious for attacks on Republicans and conservatives. Before Whoopi Goldberg took over the reins as the attack dog for The View that job had been ably handled by Rosie O’Donnell.

Apparently it is acceptable for Rosie and Whoopi to say anything they want as long as their attacks are directed against Republicans and conservatives but heaven help anyone who would try the same tactics against a liberal or Democrat. Granted that the wives of the Presidential candidates should not be the targets of attacks like this but the double standards that exist as far as the liberals and Democrats are concerned when it comes to attacks like this is remarkable.

I don’t even see how this can be called an attack against Michelle Obama. As far as I know Elizabeth Hasselbeck was simply pointing out that Cindy McCain was much more open and accessible than Michelle Obama. One of the CNN commentators even went so far as to say that it was hateful for Hasselbeck to have even made the comment. Hateful? I think that commentator needs to look up the word hate in a dictionary. Truly hateful comments have been made time and again by both Rosie and Whoopi on The View without any rebuke by anyone other that conservatives or Republicans.

So if the CNN commentators want to call Elizabeth Hasselbeck on her comments that is fine by me. But the next time Whoopi or any of the other hosts on The View make similar or worse comments against Cindy McCain or any other Republican or conservative the CNN commentators need to call them on it. Otherwise they are guilty of applying a double standard to comments made on The View, of which they already are guilty as far as I am concerned.
