Obama takes first steps towards losing the war with radical Islam

Jan 22, 2009 by

President Obama signed several executive orders today directing the CIA to close its network of secret foreign prisons, close the Guantanamo Bay detention camp within a year and limit interrogation standards to only those outlined in the Army Field manual. These executive orders are only the first of what I am afraid will be many executive orders issued by Obama that will systematically dismantle the infrastructure to fight radical Islam that former President Bush put in place during his administration.

The fact that it is this infrastructure that has prevented any radical Islamic attacks on American soil since 9/11 is one that most liberals and apparently President Obama have either ignored or refuse to acknowledge. How President Obama’s moves to dismantle this infrastructure are going to keep America safe is beyond me. I think Obama’s main motivation is to appease foreign governments and ‘restore’ America’s stature with Muslim and other countries.

The problem with this is that Obama should not be concerned with winning a popularity contest but rather be concerned with winning the war against radical Islam and keeping America safe. If you are wondering why I use the term ‘radical Islam’  instead of ‘terrorism’ it is because I believe in accurately describing what we are actually at war against. As Pat Dollard says on his blog:

Enough with the pseudonyms. Western civilization isn’t at war with terrorism any more than it is at war with grenades. Western civilization is at war with militant Islam, which dominates Muslim communities all over the world.

If President Obama thinks that actions like the ones he is ordering are going to garner us favor with Muslim countries around the world and put America in a more favorable light he is sadly mistaken. While his actions may be well received by the leaderships of some Muslim countries they will not mitigate the hatred that radical Islam has for us and all of Western civilization. Let’s take of the blinders and see the threat that radical Islam poses to us in the light of reality. They don’t hate us because of our support of Israel. They don’t hate us because we have troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.  They don’t hate us because of Britney Spears.

They hate us because we are infidels and we stand in the way of their plans to wage a war of aggressive expansion and spread of their beliefs. They hate us because we are not Muslims and do not share their particular twisted version of Islam. They hate us because we are not like them. Radical Islam is anathema to everything our country represents. To quote Pat Dollard again:

We don’t lose our souls when we treat our enemies as enemies. We don’t redeem ourselves when we close Guantanamo Bay or try terrorists in civilian courts. When it comes to war, extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice, and moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

When terrorists attacked the World Trade Center and killed more US citizens than the Japanese did during the attack on Pearl Harbor the gloves came off and they need to stay off until radical Islam is no longer a threat to us. Many people, apparently including President Obama, have forgotten that the US firebombed Tokyo and dropped two atomic bombs on Japan before we defeated them . Yet we can’t seem to stomach a little water boarding to save American lives.

I wish you would read the entire article that Pat Dollard wrote about this. It explains far better than I can how misguided actions like the ones President Obama is implementing will not only endanger our lives but threaten the very existence of our country. I know a lot of people will disagree with what I am saying. I can only pray that President Obama will find the wisdom and courage to do what is right and necessary to protect our country from radical Islam. President Bush did so at the cost of ridicule and scorn from many of the very people he so ably defended.

Hamas responsible for the bloodshed in Gaza

Dec 27, 2008 by

After enduring a week in which Hamas rained down hundreds of mortars and rockets on its citizens, Israel responded today with a large scale series of aerial strikes on Hamas infrastructure in Gaza. Reactions from the Arab world were typical. Defiant Hamas leaders threatened revenge, Egypt summoned the Israeli ambassador to express condemnation, protests erupted in the West Bank and across the Arab world.

Angry Jordanians poured out of buildings in the capital Amman and cried, “You are the cannon, we are the bullets”, some waving the signature green Hamas banners. Protests erupted in Beirut and in Syria. In the West Bank, Hamas’ rival, Abbas condemned the “aggression” and called for restraint. A shopkeeper in Gaza whose son is missing after the attacks shouted for Israel to burn.

I would say to the shopkeeper that he would be better advised to wish for Hamas to burn than Israel as it is Hamas’ fault that his son is dead or missing, not Israel’s. Ever since Israel was declared a state in 1947 it has been trying to live peacefully with its Arab neighbors, who have been trying to destroy Israel ever since. Israel left Gaza in 2005 after a 38 year occupation, but the withdrawal did not lead to better relations with Palestinians in the territory.

When President Shimon Peres was questioned about Israel’s willingness for peace, the president emphasized that it was Hamas, not Israel which was preventing the diplomatic process from moving forward. How do you practice restraint and sue for peace with an organization that will not be satisfied until Israel is destroyed? The only way for a lasting peace to occur in the Middle East is for the people of Palestine to denounce Hamas and negotiate for peace directly with Israel.

If the leaders of the Arab world would condemn Hamas or at least ask them to show restraint then maybe Israel would not have been pushed to respond to the attacks of Hamas. Israel is only defending it’s citizens. Does anyone really think that Israel does not want to have peace with its neighbors? The only ones that do not want to have peace with Israel are terrorist organizations like Hamas. Arab nations need to do more about organizations like Hamas. When was the last time you read of an Arab nation calling on Hamas to show restraint and stop shelling Israel?

Hamas deliberately targets civilians with its rocket and suicide attacks as well as endangering its  own civilians by firing from populated areas and using mosques and schools as bunkers. The Israeli military risks its own soldiers in its efforts to limit civilian casualties. Yet the Arab world always screams about the civilians killed by Israeli attacks but is silent whenever Israeli civilians are deliberately targeted and killed by groups like Hamas.

The Palestinians would have their own state by now if it were not for Hamas and its senseless hatred for Israel. President Peres of Israel stated the truth clearly.

For the past sixty years, a number of wars have been fought, but in recent years we have turned towards peace. I have signed peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan, and we have withdrawn from their territory to the very last centimeter. We have withdrawn from Lebanon, and it is possible to say that we have no conflict with Lebanon. Currently we have negotiations with Syria, and we have begun advanced negotiations with the Palestinians.

Yet Hamas continues to rain down a barrage of rockets on Israeli cities and towns. Nothing Israel can do will mollify Hamas. Hamas does not care about a Palestinian state or the peoples of Palestine.  All Hamas cares about is the destruction of Israel. If the people of Palestine want peace as well as their own state, Hamas has to go. The Palestinian people deserve to live in peace in their own state as do the citizens of Israel. As soon as Hamas is disbanded or destroyed that peace will be obtainable. Until then both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples will continue to suffer.

Open season for terrorists and pirates on Spanish citizens.

Apr 27, 2008 by

spain-flagRemember the 2004 Madrid bombings in which more than 200 people were killed and 1,500 others injured? Remember what Spain’s response was to those bombings? Three days after the bombings the Socialist Party swept into power and soon after that Spain withdrew all it’s troop from Iraq. Giving in to terrorists? You bet. Remember what the reaction was from the US after 9-11? Certainly not giving in to the terrorists. And now Spain is doing the same thing in the waters off Somalia. It has been revealed that Spanish authorities paid a $1.2 million ransom to the pirates who captured a Spanish fishing boat and its 26 member crew to have those crew members released. When will Spain ever learn that you cannot give in to terrorist’s? Apparently never. Spain has just sent a message to all pirates operating off the coast of Somalia that all you have to do to pick up a quick million or two is hijack a Spanish ship. It also sends a message to all terrorists around the world that the Spanish government is spineless and will give in to terrorists every time. I feel sorry for the citizens of Spain as the Spanish government has effectively painted a big bullseye of the back of every one of them.
